Winter's nearly here girls, and it's time to get the layers out! You're probably wondering what will keep you stylish and chic this time. Here are a few essentials you need to make a statement no matter where you go.
Jackets
Winter obviously means jackets. This season, keep it smart with cropped, well-fitted ones. Get one in a bright colour, say a purple or an orange and standout in a nude or off white dress. Pair one embellished with crystals or pearls with a simple saree to dress it up. "Sarees worn with simple jackets in black, brown or off white make for good corporate wear too," says Delhi-based designer Neeru Kumar. So pick one of each - a basic black or brown, a bright shade for the festive look and an embellished one to jazz up your saree.
Kurtis
"Kurtis are timeless. They are versatile. They can be traditional, classic or contemporary," says David Abraham of designer duo Abraham and Thakore. If you are thinking cocktail-dos, dandiya nights, pandal-hopping for durga pujas etc; go for silk or silk georgette ones with subtle shimmer. Pick ones with light sequin work or brocade borders. If you are looking for something to wear to work, simply pair a bandhgala with pants or leggings. And if you are planning a girl's night out, simply pick an A-line kurta and throw in a belt!
Leggings and churidaars
Leggings and churidaars make for wardrobe essentials this season too. Get a pair or lace or net leggings and team them with tunics or short kurtis for a night out. You could also pick leggings or churidaars studded with stones or with intricate embroidery, and pair it with a simple kurta.
Traditional Saris
Lastly, saris are here to stay. Be it simple silks for office wear or chiffons, nets or georgettes for weddings. Give it a different twist by draping them a bit higher than you usually do and pair them with a well-fitted jacket and peep-toes or pumps. The colours you should stock up are pinks, yellows oranges and shades of rust.
